Business and Transactional Practice
As a lawyer in Business and Transactional Practice, you would be required to have a background in areas such as contracts, the law of business organizations, securities regulation, antitrust, and bankruptcy, and you would have to have developed skills in interviewing, drafting, and negotiation. As a transactional lawyer, you would be structuring transactions, drafting and negotiating agreements and other documents, and counseling your client in order to help your client achieve its business objectives within the law and the lowest cost. You would also need to prepare and file documents required by state and federal law. Your work would involve transactions such as the sale or lease of goods or services, licensings, financings, secured transactions, securities offerings, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, payment systems and bankruptcy.
