This page list resources of interest to those who are performing legal research; however, nonlegal research may be performed using the resources found on the Electronic Resources by Subject page of the Villanova University Falvey Memorial Library website. Database Access at Villanova Law
Most law library databases listed below are available via IP authentication, except where otherwise noted. Databases are available off-campus to law school faculty, staff, and students. You may access these databases through our secure proxy server by logging in with your email username and password. Some databases require separate passwords such as Lexis and Westlaw.

Directory of Federal Judges (formerly known as the Almanac of the Federal Judiciary)
Access via the CCH Intelliconnect (click on the link to the right). If you would like to browse to it from within Intelliconnect, click on "Browse," then click on "Explanations, Treatises, and Guidebooks." Finally, click on "Trial Attorneys Library." Includes detailed profiles of Federal judges, including descriptions of major cases and opinions of attorneys who have interacted with the judges. An essential stop when researching for Federal Clerkships.

Includes the BNA Tax Management Portfolio series.
CCH Intelliconnect
Online version of many Commerce Clearinghouse publications in the areas of Tax, Business, and Human Resources.
Censtats
Censtats, from the United States Census Bureau includes building permits data, County business patterns, international trade data, and occupational data.
Encyclopedia Judaica
Over 21,000 signed entries on Jewish life, culture, history and religion.
Environmental Law Reporter
Publishes summaries of and articles on state and federal court cases, laws, legal trends, and agency actions concerning the environment. Must now be accessed on Westlaw or WestlawNext.

Foreign Law Guide
Online version of Foreign Laws: Current Sources of Codes and Legislation, which provides references to the fulltext of foreign statutes in English, if available.
FDSys (formerly GPO Access)
Free judicial, statutory, and regulatory information from the U.S. Government Printing Office. Replaced GPOAccess as of December 2010.
HeinOnline
Extensive digital library collection including PDF full text of journal articles, federal statutes, CFR regulations, and legislative and international materials.
Kluwer Arbitration via CCH Intelliconnect
Online resource for international commercial arbitration research. Contains expert commentary and a collection of primary source materials.
To access Kluwer, click on link CCH Intelliconnect (at right), Click on "Browse," "Practice Tools," then click on the "International Business" section of the browse menu. Finally, click on KluwerArbitration.com.

Legal Dockets Online
Directory of links to public records databases, court dockets, and filings.
LegalTrac (also known as InfoTrac)
Online periodical index which allows searching of summaries of journal articles. Online version of the Current Law Index (1982 to present). Limited fulltext.
LexisNexis
Provides fulltext journal articles as well as state and federal cases, statutes, and regulations.
Lexis Nexis Academic
Version of the LexisNexis primarily for undergraduate users.
Lexis Congressional (formerly known as Congressional Information Services Congressional Universe)
Online version of the CIS (Congressional Information Service). Provides legislative history information for Federal bills, along with references to the accompanying CIS Microfiche numbers.
Lexis Statistical
Allows searching of the text of a variety of statistical tables.
United Nations Treaty Collection
Free collection of United Nations Treaty Series (UNTS) documents. Use the Databases link to access the status, full text, certified true copies and other information for UN treaties. The databases are searchable in a number of different ways including by popular name of the treaty, treaty title or by using the cumulative indexes.
PA Law Library
Pennsylvania legal news, case law, and court rules.
Pennsylvania General Assembly Bill Room
Free Pennsylvania bill text and tracking information.
RIA Checkpoint
Thomson West database providing tax primary sources and analysis materials from Warren, Gorham, and Lamont. Students can generate a home use password for RIA Checkpoint from a computer at the law school (such as L30) by registering at http://ria.thomson.com/cploginids/. Your password can then be used from any computer.
Social Science Research Network (SSRN)
"Preprints" of social science and legal academic journal articles.
Thomas: Legislative Information on the Internet
Free bill text, bill tracking, and legislative information from the Library of Congress.
Trac
Statistical information about federal agencies, such as the IRS and the federal courts (number of claims handled, types of claims, etc.)
Westlaw
Provides fulltext journal articles as well as state and federal cases, statutes, and regulations.
World News Connection
Search English language translation of the fulltext of foreign newspapers.
