James Sargent
Biography
As Chairman of Lamb McErlane’s Litigation Department, Jim Sargent has represented major manufacturers in litigation and appeals involving product liability, warranty, fraud, and consumer protection law claims.
Named a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer for appellate law in 2005, 2006 and 2007, Jim’s practice regularly includes commercial litigation including lawsuits involving contracts, securities, business breakups, real estate and banking law, construction, restrictive covenants, and employment contracts. He is also a member of the Appellate Court Procedural Rules Committee of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court and co-chairs the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Appellate Advocacy Committee.
Jim was on the Managing Board of the University of Virginia Law Review. After law school he clerked for Chief Judge Collins Seitz, on the Third Circuit. A former Assistant Attorney General of New Hampshire under U.S. Supreme Court Justice David Souter, Jim is a member of the firm’s Post-Trial and Appellate Advocacy Group. He frequently consults for other law firms, teaches a course at Villanova Law School, and speaks at continuing legal education seminars.
