Biography
Ms. Newton has been an Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania since 1997. Prior to that, she clerked for the Honorable J. Daniel Mahoney of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and was a litigation associate with Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis for four years. Upon joining the United States Attorney’s Office, Ms. Newton served for a number of years in the Civil Division, defending immigration, complex and constitutional tort, and employment discrimination cases, and investigating and prosecuting civil health care and contractor fraud cases. She is currently in the Criminal Division, investigating and prosecuting narcotics and white collar fraud cases. Ms. Newton has spoken at various law enforcement and industry meetings on health care fraud investigations in the pharmaceutical industry.
