Biography

Mark R. Pressman holds a Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology from Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology, Yeshiva University in New York. He is a licensed psychologist in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and a Diplomate of the American Board of Sleep Medicine.  For the last 21 years he has been Director of Sleep Medicine Services at the Lankenau Medical Center and Lankenau Institute for Medical Research Center in Wynnewood, PA.  He is a Clinical Professor of Medicine at Jefferson Medical and the author of 76 scientific articles and book chapters. These articles include several on different aspects of Forensic Sleep Medicine.  He is the editor of the book “Understanding Sleep (1997)” and the forthcoming Sleep Medicine Clinics issue on Parasomnias (Dec. 2011).  He is also the author of the “Primer of Polysomnogram Interpretation (2005)”. 

Dr. Pressman has an active forensic practice limited to sleep medicine and automatisms.  He has consulted on or testified in 32 criminal cases – mostly for the prosecution - involving defenses of sleepwalking or related disorders for murders, attempted murders, assaults and sexual assaults. .  He consulted on or testified in cases in 12 states in United States as well as England, Wales and Northern Ireland in the United Kingdom and Ontario and Nova Scotia in Canada.
