Biography

Michael J. Lovell, Esq. is an Assistant Defender at the Defender Association of Philadelphia, which he joined in 1999. He has served in the Major Trials Unit and the Juvenile Special Defense Unit, which represents juveniles charged as adults with serious felonies. Mr. Lovell served as the instructor for the Temple University Beasley School of Law Clinical Program at the Defender Association from 2006 until 2009.

While in law school, Mr. Lovell competed for Temple's Mock Trial Team. He won several competitions, including the 1999 National Trial Competition sponsored by the American College of Trial Lawyers and the Texas Young Lawyers Association, the 1998 Tournament of Champions sponsored by the National Institute for Trial Advocacy, and the 1997 Cathy E. Bennett National Criminal Trial Competition sponsored by the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
