Biography
Mr. McMonigle is a principal in the Insurance Law Group of Post & Schell, Philadelphia, where he advises national clients on significant insurance coverage and claims compliance matters, and defends cases involving complex coverage issues, alleged bad faith, policyholder fraud, and life, health and disability claims (including those under ERISA). He is the author of Insurance Bad Faith in Pennsylvania, now in its eleventh edition (American Lawyer Media, 2010), and is a frequent lecturer on insurance and claims handling topics.
A veteran trial attorney, Mr. McMonigle is former prosecutor in the Philadelphia and Delaware County District Attorney’s Offices. He is also an experienced appellate attorney, having authored briefs and presented oral argument before the Pennsylvania Supreme, Superior, and Commonwealth Courts, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
Mr. McMonigle served as law clerk to the Honorable Daniel L. Herrmann, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the State of Delaware. At Villanova Law School, Mr. McMonigle was an Associate Editor of the Villanova Law Review, the winner of the Theodore L. Reimel Moot Court Competition, and the recipient of the Ullman Award in Criminal Law.
