Robert J. Lichtenstein is the leader of Morgan Lewis's Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Practice and the leader of the Executive Compensation and Employee Benefits Interdisciplinary Practice Group.
Mr. Lichtenstein’s clients include those in the retail, financial, pharmaceuticals, hospitality, and manufacturing industries. He provides counseling on all facets of executive compensation and employee benefits matters, including equity and incentive compensation plans, employment arrangements, ERISA, qualified retirement plans, and pension and profit-sharing plans, as well as litigating employee benefit claims and disputes. Mr. Lichtenstein also has experience in matters involving ESOPs, federal tax law, and representations before the Internal Revenue Service and the Department of Labor, as well as in general business counseling. He designs and helps clients implement executive compensation programs, equity compensation plans such as stock option plans and tax-qualified retirement plans. He has experience in the context of private equity buyouts of both public and non-public companies, having on numerous occasions represented the management team, as well as private equity investors. Representative transactions include his representation of management in leveraged buy-out transactions ranging from $100 million to over $25 billion.
Mr. Lichtenstein is the former chair of the Philadelphia Bar Association, Employee Benefits and Pension Committees and a current member of the American Bar Association, Tax Section, Employee Benefits Committee. He is listed in Chambers USA, The Best Lawyers in America and in Philadelphia Magazine's "Best Lawyers in Philadelphia".
