Prof. Chanenson Named to PA Supreme Court Advisory Board
The Pennsylvania Supreme Court appointed Professor Steven Chanenson to a panel of legal experts that will help the Court create a reform agenda for the Philadelphia criminal court system. The Supreme Court formed this Advisory Board to its First Judicial District Initiative on March 8, 2010. The Supreme Court acted in response to recent criticism of the Philadelphia court system’s alleged low conviction rates, witness fear and high number of fugitives. State Supreme Court Justice Seamus P. McCaffrey will lead the panel as part of a reform effort to bring change to the Philadelphia Court system. Professor Chanenson is the only law professor appointed to the panel that includes prominent Judges and attorneys. Professor Chanenson was quoted at length in the Philadelphia Inquirer article describing the formation of the Advisory Board.
