Harris T. Bock Named to the Susan G. Komen Board of Directors
The Philadelphia Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® recently appointed
Harris T. Bock '73 to its Board of Directors. This marks the return to the board for Bock, who served back to back 3-year terms starting shortly after the Komen Philadelphia Affiliate was established in 2001. Bock, is director of the Dispute Resolution Institute, located in Philadelphia.
"We are very enthused and fortunate to have Harris return to us as a Board member. He possesses a powerful diversity of experience, plus a fine reputation in our community for his legal mind, as well as the integrity he demonstrates in his professional and private lives,” said Elaine Grobman, CEO of the Komen Philadelphia Affiliate.
“The recent economic times have placed our organization in a challenging environment, with a tremendous number of women having insufficient or no medical benefits for breast health and families having to choose food over healthcare," Grobman continued. "However, with Harris rounding out such a resourceful, impassioned Board and helping lead our activism, the community can be confident that the Komen Philadelphia Affiliate will continue to make significant progress in the fight against breast cancer here at home as we bring equality of care to enrich and save lives throughout our 13 county service area."
Bock has been very actively involved with the Affiliate since its beginning, serving on the board and continuing his support, volunteerism and advocacy during his short hiatus. One of the handfuls of full-time ADR neutrals in the Philadelphia area, Bock's practice for the last 2 decades has been devoted exclusively to serving as arbitrator, mediator, fact-finder or hearing officer – with areas of expertise including business, personal injury, professional malpractice, employment, insurance, partnership, law firm and equitable distribution disputes. Bock is also currently an adjunct professor of alternative dispute resolution at Villanova Law School, President of the Philadelphia Lawyers Club, a Board member of the American Heart Association, Trustee of Boys Town of Jerusalem, President of Vassar Square Condominiums, and former Chairman of the Radnor Township Housing Appeal Board.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, Bock is a graduate of Central High School (1966), Temple University (B.A., 1970) and Villanova University School of Law (J.D., 1973).
