Tax Clinic Receives Highest IRS Grant Award

On February 17, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) announced the 2012 Low Income Taxpayer Clinic (LITC) grant recipients. The IRS awarded over $9 million to 156 organizations, including 36 law schools. Villanova University School of Law, which received a $100,000 grant, is one of ten LITCs to be awarded the maximum grant amount.   2012 marks the fourth consecutive year that Villanova University School of Law’s Tax Clinic received the highest award in the country.

Operated by nonprofit organizations or academic institutions, LITCs represent low-income taxpayers in federal tax controversies with the IRS for free or for a nominal charge. Clinics also provide tax education and outreach for taxpayers who speak English as a second language.
