VLS Alumna Lyn B. Schoenfeld '77 Appointed President of the 2013 Delaware County Bar Association

On January 11, 2013 the Delaware County Bar Association welcomed its new President, Villanova Law alumna, Lyn B. Schoenfeld ’77, who serves as the Delaware County Bar Association’s sixth woman in its 141-year history and fifth member of her firm, Gallagher, Schoenfeld, Surkin, Chupein and DeMis to head the association. Shoenfeld is past chair of the Association’s Family Law Section and is 2010 recipient of the Eric D. Turner award for her contributions to the Family Law Section of the Bar Association.
Schoenfeld is the managing partner in the Media law firm of Gallagher, Schoenfeld, Surkin, Chupein & DeMis, P.C., where she concentrates her practice in all areas of family law.
In 2009, the judges and lawyers of Delaware County awarded Schoenfeld the E. Wallace Chadwick Memorial Award in recognition of her long service to the legal profession. She is honored to have been chosen by the judges of the Delaware County Court of Common Pleas to sit as a judge pro tem to assist the Delaware County Family Law Section.
Schoenfeld has been recognized for long-term volunteer services by the Women’s Resource Center and the Delaware County Domestic Abuse Project. She has lectured widely in seminars and anchored programs in areas of family law, including divorce taxation, child custody and division of property in divorce.
A resident of Bryn Mawr and active in the community, Schoenfeld serves on the Board of the Gladwynne Montessori School and is a member of the Planned Giving Committee of the Malvern Prepatory School.
Schoenfeld is a magna cum laude graduate of Bryn Mawr College with degrees in English and History. She received her J.D. and LL.M. in Taxation in 1977 from the Villanova University School of Law.
