VLS Mourns Alumna Doris Casper '80
It is with great sadness that we share with you the passing of classmate,
Doris Casper '80, on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at the age of 86.
Casper graduated from Cornell University in Engineering. Soon after graduation Casper became a war-time bride, marrying Lee A. Casper in 1945. Together they operated a 250 acre farm in Clarksburg, New Jersey.
In 1959 Casper re-located to Merion, Pennsylvania and earned a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1970. Thereafter she became an administrator for the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Crime Prevention Association of Philadelphia.
Casper graduated from Villanova Law in 1980 as the first grandmother in the school’s history to earn a J.D. degree. Following graduation, she served as a volunteer attorney for the ACLU for many years before retiring and traveling the world with her cousin, Helen Levine.
Casper was a long-time lover and patron of the Arts, including the Pennsylvania Ballet Company, the Wilma Theater, the Philadelphia Jewish Film Festival and the Metropolitan Opera of New York. She was a devoted member of the Society Hill Synagogue.
