VLS Mourns Alumnus Kevin McEwen '88
It is with great sadness that we share with you the passing of
Kevin McEwen '88, of Scotch Plains, New Jersey on Saturday, January 12, 2013 of cancer at his home at the age of 49.
McEwen grew up in Wayne, New Jersey and had been a resident of Scotch Plains for 20 years. He matriculated from Villanova University in 1985, and Villanova Law School in 1988. McEwen began his legal career with Walters, McPherson, McNeill and later held positions with Cullen & Dykman, NUI Corporation, and worked as senior corporate counsel at Hitachi America in Basking Ridge, New Jersey at the time of his passing.
McEwen was very active in his community, serving as a lector and member of the St. Helen's parish pastoral council and a volunteer at Holy Trinity School. In addition, he coached local youth basketball, hockey and baseball for the last 10 years.
MdEwen is survived by his wife, Rose (McNamara), daughters, Kathleen and Rionach, son, Brendan, parents, Art and Jane, sister, Helen (Flavio Panora), brother, Chris (Jenn), mother- and father-in-law, John and Kathleen McNamara, brother-in-laws, Chris (Lisa) and Sean (Maria), sister-in-laws, Erin (Bob Miller) and Mary (Brion Maguire), and his nieces and nephews, Roberto, Nicolas, Isabella and Sofia Panora, Zachary and Madison McEwen, Ryan, Dylan and Shane McNamara, Quentin and Riley McNamara, Declan Miller, Conall, Jane and Maeve Maguireis
A Funeral Mass was celebrated on January 16, 2013 at St. Helen's Church in Westfield, New Jersey. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.higginsandbonner.com. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kevin McEwen Memorial Fund, the proceeds of which will be designated for charities that McEwen supported.
