VLS Alumus Charles Widger '73 Honored by Gettysburg College
During the 2012 reunion weekend festivities (May 31 – June 3) at Gettysburg College, alumni were recognized for their extraordinary personal accomplishments, professional achievements, or humanitarian service. Among those recognized was Chairman and CEO of Brinker Capital, Inc., Charles Widger ’73, who received the Meritorious Service Award for service to the College at the annual awards ceremony on Saturday, June 2.
Through his involvement as a Gettysburg College alum, Widger strengthened alumni connections and served on several key committees during the Unfinished Work Campaign. In addition, he served on the College's Commission on the Future and on the Board of Trustees, led the Endowment Committee and serves as chair of the Board. For his extraordinary philanthropy he was recognized as a Visionary Gettysburgian and a lifetime member of the Cupola Society.
Following his graduation from Gettysburg College, Widger entered the U.S. Navy Officer Candidate School. Thereafter, Widger earned his law degree from Villanova University and his master's degree in tax law from Boston University. Armed with a legal education and an interest in finance, Widger founded Brinker Capital, Inc., an investment management firm, where he now serves as chairman and CEO.
