Valerie Harrison '87 Receives BLSA Legal Achievement Award

On February 28, 2013, the Villanova University School of Law Black Law Students Association (BLSA) honored Valerie Harrison '87, Arcadia University’s Vice President for Legal Affairs and General Counsel, with the second annual BLSA Legal Achievement Award (BLAA).

The BLSA Executive Board bestows BLSA Legal Achievement Award annually during Black History Month, to a person of color who has practiced with distinction in the legal profession.  In selecting a recipient, the Executive Board considers individuals who have not only achieved significant success in their practice area, but also those who blazed largely unbeaten paths for minority attorneys.

Ms. Harrison began her legal career as an associate with Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, where her practice concentrated in the area of labor and employment law. She has served as in-house corporate counsel for two multi-national corporations and spent 13 years as Associate University Counsel for Temple University. Ms. Harrison has an extensive record of community service and is pursuing a Ph.D. in African American Studies, which she will complete this year.

Villanova University School of Law congratulates and thanks Ms. Harrison for her continued service to the legal community and is proud to have her serving as an inspiring leader for the School and its students.
