VLS Administrative Appointments
As the academic year comes to a close, I am pleased to share with you news of three recent appointments to the VLS leadership team.
Michael Moreland, Vice Dean (effective June 1)
In his new role, Vice Dean Moreland is responsible for the strategic oversight of academic affairs (including career strategy, admissions, registrar, and financial aid), administration (including communications, human resources and facilities management), and faculty support. Recently tenured, he joined the Villanova faculty in 2006 after serving as Associate Director for Domestic Policy at the White House under President George W. Bush. Dean Moreland assumes the role from Dean Catherine Lanctot, who returns full-time to her position as professor following a sabbatical in fall 2012.
Christine Mooney, Associate Dean of Academic Affairs (effective June 1)
Associate Dean Mooney will manage all areas of academic affairs, including the career strategy, registrar and financial aid offices. A VLS graduate and current Director for Legal Writing Programs, she regularly presents on the topic of legal writing at regional and national conferences. Dean Mooney assumes the role from Dean Patrick Brennan, who will also be returning to the faculty following a sabbatical in fall 2012.
Christopher Dwyer, Associate Dean for Finance and Administration (effective June 11)
Associate Dean Dwyer will serve as the chief operations officer for the Law School. His responsibilities include oversight of VLS’s financial resources, budget planning and administration, human resources, and facilities management. Dean Dwyer comes to the Law School from the government of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, where he served as the Special Advisor to the Budget Secretary and, most recently, as the Department of Community and Economic Development’s Director of Financial Management under Governors Rendell and Corbett.
