VLS Receives Disability Law Grant

On October 28, Villanova Law School, in collaboration with the PA Health Law Project and Disability Rights Network PA, presented "Representing Individuals with Disabilities". The seminar was intended to increase awareness about the legal issues faced by individuals with disabilities and to increase the interest and involvement of future lawyers in the field of disability law. The event was made possible by a generous grant provided by the Pennsylvania Bar Association Committee for Legal Services for Persons with Disabilities.

More than 50 attorneys and law students attended the seminar. The discussion, presented by Mark Murphy, Esq., Disabilities Rights Network, and David Gates, Esq., (VLS '75) Pennsylvania Health Law Project, covered recent developments surrounding the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), as well as case studies showing what private attorneys need to know to help their clients with disabilities get health care. The case study portion of the CLE focused on the changing rights of persons with disabilities when they reach adulthood and challenges facing those with acquired disabilities.
