Community Building Workshop
What is the Community Building Workshop?
“Community” is a core value that Villanova University lives and breathes. You are entering a new professional culture and a special community of lawyers-in-training at Villanova Law. Central to Villanova’s Augustinian heritage is the mission to create a collegial, dynamic community of enthusiastic learners from varied life perspectives. For our vibrant community to thrive, each of us must fundamentally value and respect every other community member. Indeed, this fundamental respect is the centerpiece of our Law School mission statement, which states:
"Villanova Law seeks to reflect the spirit of St. Augustine by the cultivation of knowledge, by respect for individual differences and by adherence to the principle that mutual love and respect should animate every aspect of the law school’s life."
The School of Law welcomes all to its community, regardless of race, gender, religion or creed, sexual orientation, national or ethnic origin, age, economic status, or disability. The School of Law is committed to serving the poor and the disadvantaged. As an inclusive institution, it celebrates diversity as enriching the educational environment for everyone.
So, welcome to the Community Building Workshop portion of your Orientation to Villanova Law! To be sure, a community isn’t built in one workshop. However, we are pleased to provide this first step in what promises to be an enriching journey toward mutual respect and understanding. We hope you will embrace that journey, as we learn from each other during your time at Villanova Law.
