As a graduate of the J.D./ Ph.D. program, Natacha Blain earned both a juris doctor and a Ph.D. in psychology. “Since I was little, I wanted to be a lawyer and/or a psychologist. The VLS Law/Psychology Program meant that I did not have to choose one or the other ––that I could in fact marry these two seemingly diverse professions. Pursuing dual doctoral degrees in law and psychology is a decision that I have never regretted.”

Although the J.D./Ph.D. program is demanding, Blain found time to be involved in the life of the law school. She was a member of Black Law Students Association, and actively participated in the student section of the American Psychological Association. Since graduation, Blain has been inducted into the Supreme Court Bar with other Villanova Law alums and presently serves on the Villanova Law School Washington, D.C. Board of Advisors.

With her educational background Blain has been able to pursue various avenues of legal work. She has worked as an Adjunct Professor at the American School of Professional Psychology, as both Staff Director and Chief Counsel on the Senate Judiciary Committee of Senator Richard J. Durbin and as a Supreme Court Fellow in Washington, D.C. As a Fellow, Blain conducted evaluations of offender re-entry programs, offender employment programs and sealed settlements. She also drafted and implemented Congressional proposals recommending additional outreach to assist the Federal Judicial Center in its policy needs. Blain currently works for the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. As Director of Research she is responsible for preparing background information for legislative testimony as well as for press briefings and press releases.
