The Campaign for Villanova Law

The Building

Message from David F. Girard-diCarlo, '73, Campaign Chair

I was delighted to accept Dean Sargent's invitation to serve as Chair of the Campaign for Villanova Law. Villanova Law challenged me intellectually, taught me professional values, and truly became a home. Perhaps most important, it was where I met my wife, Connie, so it will always hold a place in our hearts.

I am extraordinarily proud of the school's great success in recent years. Applications have more than doubled, median LSATs have soared, and each new class has been even more impressive than its predecessor. A new generation of faculty has succeeded those wonderful teachers we knew so well. They are not only worthy successors in the classroom, but extraordinary scholars who have dramatically enhanced the academic reputation of the Law School. Our new clinical program has provided an exciting dimension to our students' legal education, and our clinical faculty are recognized nationally as leaders in their fields.

The Law School's financial position also has never been stronger, and has given us the opportunity to resolve our sole major problem: the lack of an adequate physical facility. The effort to create a new law school building is the most important initiative since the Law School's founding. For us to attract the best and brightest students, to recruit and retain the most promising and distinguished faculty, we must have a building that is highly functional, comfortable and inspiring.

Our alumni have been crucial to our success. Your generosity has placed Villanova Law on the verge of making the dream of the new building a reality. I ask all of our many graduates to join me in contributing as generously as possible to this wonderful effort.
