Computerized Exams Announcement

As all of you know, students have the option of writing exam answers in a bluebook, typing answers on a laptop, or typing on a law school PC.  Students opting to use their own laptop or Room 103 PC are required to register and attend training. Students using their own laptop are further required to have the proper operating systems and software installed, test the software, and address any technical issues they may be having with their laptop before exams begin.  Under the exam regulations, technical proctors have the authority to deem a student’s laptop not suitable for exams.

This semester we again plan to have students upload all typed exam answers via our wireless network.  Thus, if you are having problems with your wireless card, you must visit the Computer Services office found on the main floor of the library as soon as possible to see what can be done.  Your wireless connection MUST be working before you undergo training.

Students wishing to take their exams on a laptop or PC MUST sign up for and attend a training session below.  PCs are reserved through the training registration forms below on a first come, first served basis.  We recommend that PC users attend sessions offered in room 103 so that you can test the software at the session.

Information about Computerized Exams:

In a nutshell, our exam software allows you to take exams on your laptop while locking out access to all other files.  Upon completing the exam, the software will save an encrypted version of the exam that will be uploaded via our wireless network.  The registrar's office will decrypt and print out your exam for your professor.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact Justin Barber, our Information and Administrative Computing Coordinator, at barber@law.villanova.edu.
